Tumble Dryer Fire Risk

by David Thomas

Recent media coverage has redrawn attention to a safety campaign launched in 2015 concerning tumble dryers manufactured by Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda between April 2004 and September 2015.

The concern centres around scope for excess fluff to come into contact with the heating element and the associated fire risk. It has been reported that that hundreds of house fires featuring affected dryers have occurred since 2004.

Whirlpool, who have recently acquired the Hotpoint and Indesit brands, advise to both unplug and refrain from any further use of relevant appliances until a safety modification has been undertaken.
